Employee Development And Satisfaction

People Are the Key to Our Success

As a service company, we are only as good as our people. We are focused on continually strengthening our team, ensuring that we have the capabilities across our organization to consistently deliver on our Customer Promise. Our people, and the service excellence they provide, are key competitive differentiators.

Achieving High Employee Satisfaction

The results of our 2012 employee satisfaction survey reflect G&K’s commitment to its people and work environment. In an independently conducted analysis, our workforce ranked us well above average in 22 of 24 categories for all U.S. employees. Among the findings, employees expressed a high level of trust and confidence in G&K’s management. We are proud of these results. Additionally, our Canadian organization has been voted one of the Best Employers in Canada for ten consecutive years.

Supporting Leadership Excellence

As part of our effort to retain talented employees, we have an ongoing internal promotion goal of 85 percent. Additionally, in 2012, G&K took a significant leap forward in our employee development programs. We established a broad, strategic discipline around our human capital and created our Center for Leadership Excellence. Through the center, we aim to identify and cultivate high-potential leaders, and leverage feedback and insights across our business.

Our human capital plan focuses on enhancing critical talent pools, with particular attention to diversity in leadership and college recruiting. A forum of G&K leaders, managers and board members identified opportunities to increase diversity in our business and created a concrete roadmap to develop more diversity in our leadership.

G&K also is piloting several community college recruiting programs and plans to offer entry-level management training to promising candidates.

Engaging a Diverse Workforce

Nearly 40 percent of G&K’s employees speak English as a second language. G&K is an equal opportunity employer. We respect cultural differences, provide training instruction in multiple languages and hire translators when needed.

G&K’s Diversity Policy: Our commitment is to cultivate a diverse, respectful and inclusive environment where employees are able to reach their full potential and drive business results. Diversity at G&K Services is viewed holistically and goes beyond race and gender. It also recognizes and embraces the value of education, experience and background, as well as different ways of thinking and work styles.

Training for Success

A trained, engaged and aligned workforce is able to deliver superior service and achieve business results. G&K is making investments on many fronts. We offer innovative training and learning solutions designed to complement employees’ learning styles and develop their potential – from comprehensive new-hire training to job-specific training, online training and leadership development. We also offer technical training for sales and service employees using live and distance learning formats.

At G&K, we are committed to cultivating a diverse, respectful and inclusive environment where all employees are able to reach their full potential and help drive business results.

Equal Opportunity Employer

G&K makes every effort to treat all employees and job applicants fairly. Individual qualifications, skills and achievements are the basis for employment decisions, such as hiring, promotion, transfer and compensation.

G&K works to provide equal employment opportunities regardless of race, sex, age, religious orientation, marital status, citizenship status, national origin, physical/mental disabilities or any other classification protected by applicable law. G&K believes that diverse ideas, skills and experience complement each other and continually improve our ability to develop and to serve our customers.  Questions regarding Equal Employment Opportunities (U.S.) or Employment Equity Opportunities (Canada) can be directed to a human resources manager or director.
